Liliya Jones

Director of Operations

As Director of Operations, I am focused on structuring the financial planning, investment management, and internal strategic planning processes that help Modernist flourish. I spearheaded Modernist’s B Corp™ certification effort, and am an avid supporter of the conscious capitalism movement. I also enjoy writing and head up much of the firm’s content creation efforts. I was on Modernist’s founding team, having worked in private banking and financial services earlier in my career.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Portland State University as well as a Series 65 Securities License and Paraplanner certification. In college I studied macroeconomics and developed a fascination with the systematic connections between policy, economics, and behavioral science.   

When I’m not working, I prefer being outside and moving through the world – hiking, cycling and running.  In winter, I like to venture out for cultural events and the occasional drawing class. I serve on the Board of the Portland chapter of Women in Insurance and Financial Services, and volunteer with Women’s Foundation of Oregon whenever I can. In the past, I have been a part of Art of Leadership, Portland Office of Youth Violence Prevention, Clackamas County’s Youth and Family Mediation Program and Business for Culture & the Arts Associates Program.
